The Tadd Gero Fund For Emerging Writers
Established by the Gero Family and Bazaar Productions in honor of the life, creativity and spirit of our dear friend and collaborator, The Tadd Gero Fund for Emerging Writers is inspired by the vision to endow young artists with an opportunity to fully express their craft. As a performer and prolific emerging writer himself, all gifts to Tadd’s Fund will directly benefit participants of EarlyStages, a program devoted to nurturing the talents of emerging playwrights in the Berkshire Community.
Crafted by Bazaar Productions and The Berkshire Fringe where Tadd was an intern and performer, EarlyStages is dedicated to cultivating new voices and creative risk taking in the American Theater. Specifically designed for College aged writers based in the Berkshires and surrounding counties, the program offers a vibrant testing ground for new work and the opportunity to develop material under the mentorship of a skilled professional playwright.
Each EarlyStages participant is selected from an open application process and given a full scholarship, room and board. The two-week residency and rehearsal period allows each writer to immerse him/herself fully in the creative process while drawing inspiration from the vibrant artist community of The Berkshire Fringe.
The program culminates in a world premiere staged reading of each newly developed play. Each reading is followed by an open discussion with the writer, playwright mentor and director.
